Water at the right hour, in the right amount.
Put the hose away. An automatic system waters early, deeply and evenly, which is what turf actually wants — instead of a light sprinkle at six in the evening, which is how lawn disease starts.
Installation
Zoned for your property, not a catalogue
Zones are set by what is actually growing there. A shaded bed does not want the same schedule as a strip of turf baking against a south-facing driveway, and watering both the same way guarantees one of them suffers.

Service & repair
Start-up, repairs, blow-out
Most systems in the GTA fail for the same handful of reasons: a head clipped by a mower, a line cracked by frost because it was never blown out properly, or a controller nobody has reset since the day it was installed.

Sod
When seed will not do it in time
Seed is cheaper and, given a whole season, usually better. But on a new build, a torn-up strip along a driveway, or a front yard that has to look finished before a sale, sod is the only thing that gets you there in a week.
We prepare the grade properly first. Sod laid on compacted construction fill is money spent on something that will be brown by August — the roots never get into anything they can live in.

Irrigation questions
When should the system be blown out?
Before the first hard freeze — in the GTA that usually means late October into November. Leaving it later is a gamble against an early cold snap, and a cracked line underground is not a cheap repair.
How much water will it use?
Less than hand watering, in most cases. The system waters early, deeply and only where it is needed, rather than a sprinkler left running on the whole yard for an hour.
Can you service a system you did not install?
Yes. Most of our irrigation work is on systems somebody else put in.
Do I need a backflow preventer?
Any system connected to municipal water does, and it has to be the right type for the installation. It is part of a proper install.
